Vows – Blake Wilde Interview

Featuring:

Let’s chat with Blake Wilde

It’s time for another Vows performer interview. This time we are chatting with Blake Wilde about her role as Sister Blake, subverting Catholicism, and cum blossom trees!

What did you first think about the film when Kim first told you about it?

I absolutely loved the concept! One of my first ever shoots for Kim was a follow up to the original scene featuring just her and Stirling, before she had decided to turn it into a feature film. I had a lot of fun with the creativity of that scene so I was super excited to find out we would be doing an entire film. I went to a Catholic school so it felt very right that my porn career should head in a direction where I could really subvert Catholicism and the Catholic values that no longer have a hold over me.

What aspect of the film were you most excited about/ What was your motivation for being in the film?

I was excited about quite a lot of things. There were a lot of firsts for me in this film, things that I hadn’t explored in either my professional or personal life and I was excited to have the opportunity to really grow and learn on set, under the guidance of people with so much knowledge and experience. Like using a strap on, or using a dildo bigger than my arm in someone’s butt. These are now skills I have confidently been able to integrate into my everyday life.

My main motivation for the film was how much I love working with Kim. I always have so much fun and learn a lot from her by watching her in action as a director, producer and performer. Her creative vision, eye for detail, professionalism and down to earth humour and warmth consistently inspire me.

Also, subverting Catholicism.

How much communication did you have with your performers before you came to set?

A lot! We had an opportunity to email everyone with all of our boundaries prior to arrival on set, which we then went over again before each scene.

What was the location like?

The location was amazing. A huge converted church in the middle of the countryside, it was idyllic. It was also surrounded by what I fondly refer to as ‘cum blossom trees’. If you aren’t familiar, they are a type of ornamental pear tree which were hugely popular in the 70’s and 80’s, until people realised they didn’t like the scent of the flowers. The flowers smell exactly like cum. It seemed appropriate considering what we were filming there.

What was your favorite on camera moment?

My favourite on camera moment featuring myself was using a dildo bigger than my arm in Miss Honey’s butt.

My favourite on camera moment not featuring myself was the final scene with Kim and Stirling. I wasn’t there while it was being filmed but when Jay played it back to me, I cried real tears.

What was your favorite off camera moment?

Every single terrible nun-pun that we made. Playing Sushi Go!, eating pizza and drinking beer at the wrap party.

What was the most erotic moment for you as a performer?

Receiving communion from Stirling – while it wasn’t explicitly sexual, I found a lot of eroticism in the subtle suggestibility of it. The prolonged eye contact. My open mouth and waiting tongue as Stirling fed me the wafer. The sip of wine he gave me sliding down my throat…

Did your personal interests overlap with what you/your character got to do in the film?

It was actually quite interesting filming this because in some ways yes and other ways I was definitely challenged to step outside of my box, so to speak. I am naturally very submissive when it comes to sex so to shoot things like the foursome/pegging scene and The Lamb scene where I was one of the people in control and in a more dominant role was definitely something different for me. But there are moments where myself and my character did align, for example when I stole the Eucharist cup under the encouragement of Miss Honey so we could have our wine fuelled, ritualistic orgy – that’s totally something I would do. Though in saying that I think throughout the film my character was generally more submissive and was easily swept up in the influence of the strong and alluring characters that were Kim and Miss Honey.

Did you do anything to get in-character for the film?

I found the donning of the habit naturally helped me assume my character. It’s such a process and by the time I finished getting all the pieces to actually sit how they are meant to, I would be in nun performance mode. For The Lamb, the fact we shot at night definitely helped me get into the particular mood needed for that scene, as I’m so used to shooting during the day. It had a totally different feel. I will say though, that sometimes it would take us all a moment to get out of giggling nun-pun mode before a lot of the non-explicit group shots – sorry Kim!

What scene took the longest to film?

Definitely The Lamb. Kim had very specific shots that she wanted for this scene and needed us to hold our positions for certain lengths of time, then we went back and reshot a few of them because Stirling, Honey and I really wanted to make sure we gave her enough footage to work with. That was a big group effort and I feel we really gave our all as performers. This scene was Kim’s baby and we wanted her to be able to create her vision.

Were the scenes constructed or did you have free reign to do what you wished?

A little bit of both – for the foursome/pegging scene, once Kim got the shots she needed we were able to do what came naturally in the moment. For The Lamb scene it was a little more constructed and shot specific – Kim had a list of very specific shots and moments that she really wanted to capture. After we got those and moved onto the sex, we were able to choose the positions we wanted, but it was very important to do that in a way that showed Honey and I were in control of the situation.

Did you have a favourite line in the script? (This could be one of yours or one said by another performer)

Take this, all of you, and eat of it,
For this is my body,
Which will be given up for you.

What type of audience do you think would enjoy this film?

Anyone who loves creative porn and has renounced Catholicism. Anyone who loves creative porn and queer sex. Anyone who likes Kim’s work.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I am very proud of Kim and the rest of the cast and crew for the work that we did. This was my first ever feature film and I had the best time. It was so much fun and pushed me to be a better performer. Thank you to Kim for casting me in it and trusting that I could help bring your vision to life! I hope people enjoy watching it as much I loved help create it.
